This journey of knowing Christ has recently had some outside influences to nudge me in the right direction. About a year ago a speaker by the name of Clint Glenny recommended reading a book by Frank Viola and George Barna titled, “Pagan Christianity”. I read this book in a matter of days. I couldn’t put it down. Many of the “why” questions I had been asking about the institutional church were answered in this book. This book covers many of the pagan roots of the traditional practices found in the institutional church. I followed up my reading of Pagan Christianity with Frank Viola’s “Re-imagining Church” which looks at the foundation of Christ’s model for organic church life. These two books have been a great resource for my finding solid answers in really knowing Jesus Christ and how He alone must be the focus of my life and the body of Christ.
I must give fair warning. This book will possibly change your view of Christianity and church life as you know it.
